Backyard Hawks
There is a hawk that visits my backyard on a regular basis. It makes me wonder if I should give up feeding the birds, but for now I haven't stopped. The Blue Jays sound the alarm when it is around. When I hear the jays, I run out with my camera. The hawk allows me to get up close to it only if it is perched high in a tree, not in a bush. I haven't been able to identify it yet (Sharp-shinned or Cooper). Although I like seeing the hawk, I don't like the thought that it is using my backyard feeder for its hunting purposes. This makes me feel a bit like an accomplice.
